The patented BreakAway Wound Dressing is the first of a family of wound dressings to be available with a releasably attached wound shear protection layer. Unlike other conventional dressings, the open ended BreakAway Design reduces dressing shearing force and minimizes friction. This feature increases patient comfort and decreases shearing trauma to the healing wound. The releasably attached wound contact layer allows care givers to visualize the wound surface prior to removal, thus preventing accidental debridement of healthy tissue.
